Master craftsman Bussotti creates a special violin for his unborn child, but the mother and child both die during childbirth. Bussotti becomes obsessed with finishing the instrument. We then follow the life of the violin as it travels across continents, cultures and centuries evoking a passion and obsession in every life it touches.
