After losing his family in a tragic bombing, Joshua goes on a murderous rampage to avenge their death. Needing to escape from justice Joshua changes his name and joins the Foreign Legion. He is sent as a mercenary to Serbia where he soon becomes hardened to the horrors of war. He becomes responsible for Vera, a Muslim raped Serb and now pregnant, after a prisoner exchange. When Vera rejects her newborn child Joshua finds that he must rebuild his own humanity as he looks after the child.
