Made in 1968 the creator of Quatermass made this amazingly prophetic film. Set in the future where the world is dominated and run by TV executives, programmes are created to control the overpopulated world's desires. To keep the audiences passive, the programmes must keep pushing the boundaries, and as interest wanes in the Sex Olympics, a new idea is proposed - a reality-based programme in which a family is stranded on a bleak island, without the aid of modern technology, and their efforts to survive filmed 24 hours a day. But what the family don't know is that the producers have a couple of unpleasant surprises up their sleeves...
